You Can Help Save This Young Woman's Life
My name is David Floyd and I have been the pastor of Marvyn Parkway Baptist Church in Opelika, Alabama for 23 years. During that time I have made many mission trips to Mexico and Honduras. Our church has helped provide the basic necessities of life for children in Honduras through our missionary, Ronnie Doss, who operates an orphanage in Esparanza, Honduras. At the present time, there are 170 children in the home. It is with hope that someone will be able to meet a special and urgent need in Honduras that I write this letter.
Bro. Doss and his wife, Joann, have been in Honduras for the last 15 years, and very seldom come home to the States. When they do come home, it is only for a week of two at a time. There is no doubt that Bro. and Mrs. Doss love the Honduran people and have given their lives to minister to their physical and spiritual needs.
Our last trip to Honduras was in June 2005, and as we were preparing to leave, Bro. Doss told us of his burden for a young woman named Liv Carolina Izaquirre Fernandez, who desperately needs a kidney transplant. He asked if we could help by finding a doctor and a hospital to provide this woman’s need. I have been trying to find someone to meet Liv’s need since I returned to the States, but yet I have found no one. Recently, I read an article in the Birmingham News written by Holly Lang titled, “Missionaries Bring Hope to Honduras”. My hope for this young lady, whose life hangs in the balance, was increased. I thought, “Maybe this is how God is going to meet the need.” Ms. Lang referred me to Dr. Tom Camp who suggested telling Liv’s story on this website in an effort to find help.
Liv Carolina Izaquirre Fernandez was born October 24, 1974. She is almost 31 years of age. At the age of 23, Liv Carolina began to suffer from chronic renal insufficiency. Since that time she has been receiving dialysis treatments in order to survive. Liv’s case is different in that she has a cousin, Julio Aguillar, who is willing to donate a kidney to her. Julio has already undergone a number of tests and so far he is a possible donor.
There is a doctor of Internal Medicine and Surgeon registered No. 080867616, who has certified that Liv Carolina is a Honduran citizen, that she at the age of 23 began to undergo hemodialysis treatment for terminal chronic renal insufficiency and that Liv’s only possible definitive treatment should be a kidney transplant.
Liv Carolina Izaquirre Fernandez has a desire to live, a cousin willing to donate a kidney, a family that loves her, a missionary trying to help her, and an Alabama pastor trying to do the same. However, financially she cannot afford the procedure. As you read this story and look at Liv’s picture, maybe you will be God’s answer to Liv’s prayers. It is my prayer that God will use this website to reach someone who can help Liv before it is too late.
