Soup
Kitchen in Honduras In
the years that we have traveled to Limon, Honduras, we have fed
the children during our lunch. We never paid attention to which
children. We fed them all. In the last 6 months it has been brought
to our attention that many of these children are orphaned and eat
what is left over from whomever in the village. In fact they probably
eat better and more regularly during our trips to Limon than any
other time. There are 26 teams traveling this year, that means these
children will eat 1/2 of the year at regular intervals.
As our goal this year, we will start a soup kitchen so that these
children and widows will receive a hot meal 2 times per week. Our
team will set this up the week of May 28th. We will put someone
in charge(one of our contact people) teach them how to prepare and
feed approximately 80 people a hot meal twice a week. Each team
will be responsible for providing food during their visit. We hope
to raise enough money to continue the feeding during non mission
team visits. It doesn't seem like much but it will serve to help
nourish children and women who otherwise might not eat for days
at a time. Someone has already opened their heart and started a
fund. We are asking for industrial size cans of applesauce and peanut
butter and/or $50 donations to help sponsor this effort. Anything
you can do to help will be greatly appreciated. Remember that through
God, all things are possible. Debora
