Note from Mt. Vernon Baptist Church
Pointe Pietra (Point of Rock): Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Curry, Alabama, teamed up with Pastor Roberto de Cruzado’s Church and they completed building a new church in this beautiful Gariffina fishing village. In 2006 the men of Mt. Vernon will “buddy up” with the men of Pointe Pietra and drain a malaria-infested swamp behind the church. The ladies of both churches plan to start a sewing school at the church. After the latest hurricane, Gamma, the area of swamp has markedly increased. With this increase comes more mosquitoes and therefore more malaria and Dengue Fever.
