Limon
Soup Kitchen Report for 2006
The soup kitchen of Limon, Honduras was started one year
ago. It started when Danny and Brenda Arnold met with Christina,
her husband Stephen, Pastor David Ventura, and three cooks. The
goal was to feed 65 orphans (mostly mom and dads died of AIDS) and
25 widows 2 meals a week.
Pastor David reports the kids are healthier, the widow women are
healthier, the kids are making better grades in school, and the
kids and widows have smiles on their faces. I guess that is how
we judge a success.
Starting in Dec ’06, the kitchen will begin serving 4 meals
a week. There is enough money to last until June ’07 for that.
Progress?
1. Kids and widows are being fed.
2. Building on the second floor of church in Limon to house the
soup kitchen is progressing nicely. Not finished, but making progress.
3. The kids are doing better in school.
4. The kids are smiling.
5. The church family is pitching in to “parent” the
kids.
6. There is a small library at the church for the kids.
7. There are book bags and school supplies for the kids.
8. There are vitamins for the kids and widows on the feeding days.
Whets next?
1. Continue feeding 4 (or more?) days per week.
2. Get plastic chairs and tables in the church for the kids to
eat on.
3. Complete construction of the second floor for the kitchen.
4. More school supplies for the kids.
5. Expanded library for the kids.
6. A world map, a Honduran Map, and Central American Map for the
kids.
7. Continue daily vitamins for the kids.
8. A paid tutor to teach the kids after school?
The orphans, widow women, teachers, and church members of Limon
ask me to tell you “THANK YOU” for the support you
have given them.
Have a great Christmas.
