AHMEN Medical Brigade Report
Four years ago while on a mission in Honduras, Dr. Tom Arnold was
called out in the middle of the night to sew up the hand and face
of a man found on the side of the road outside of Limon, Honduras
who had been in a car wreck. Dr. Arnold struck up a conversation
with the young Garifuna man who brought the injured fellow in. During
the conversation, Tom discovered that the young man was from the
neighboring town of Tocomachu, was visiting his girl friend in Limon,
and was on vacation from medical school. Tom invited the young man
to work with the AHMEN Medical Brigade the rest of the week. This
was the first contact we had with Luther Harry Costilla, who was
to become one of our best friends and closest co-workers in Honduras.
Luther has since become Dr. Luther Costillo, graduate of the Latin
American School of Medicine and one his latest inititives was the
"For the Health of Our Community". The following article
is a discussion of this project that began last year. Click
