What is a Miracle?
About 3 days ago our friend and North Alabama United
Methodist Church Cabinet member, Rev. Thomas Mohumba, received word
that a pastor/friend of his from his home country of Zimbabwe was
seriously ill with an unusual type of meningitis. There is an effective
medicine for this particular illness, but none in Zimbabwe. Rev.
Thomas sent out a request for help thru the VIM network of teams
that serve throughout the world from the North Alabama Conference
of the United Methodist Church. With in 48 hours the medicine had
been donated from two different sources. Seven different AHMEN teams
had responded with money, medical advice, medicine, and transportation
of the medicine to Zimbabwe. Included in the help was a pharmacist,
a church member who has never been on a mission, a hospital, three
doctors, two different team leaders, the local UPS store, and VIM.
The medicine does require refrigeration at all times. The medicine will need
to be followed up with another type of medicine that hasn’t been acquired
yet. The friend of Thomas is still in critical condition. I don’t know
if the medicine will get there in time, if it will work, and if the man will
live.
What I do know is I have seen a great outpouring of love, assistance, caring,
and money. Is this a Miracle? I guess we will have to ask Rev. Thomas Mohumba’s
friend.
