Library a Partnership in Limon
Ten years ago the Pueblo of Limon dedicated their public library to Dr. Lacaya, the first Garifina doctor to graduate from Medical School in Honduras. Dr. Lacaya is the father of our good friend Gloria Lacaya, the lab technician at the Carolina Clinic, Limon, Honduras.

This year, Dr. and Mrs. Joel Edwards added their energy to the Limon Library and it is now jointly dedicated to Dr. Lacaya and the grandchildren of the Edwards.

The people of Limon, AHMEN, CHIMES, Rotary International, Give-A-Book all joined in this partnership. The dedication was held in Sept. ’08 with grand opening including the addition of over 200 books, refreshments, new book shelves, a new paint job, and traditional music and dancing by the young people of Limon.

Gloria and The Edwards, along with CHIMES, Rotary International, Give-A-Book and AHMEN have set an example of how to partner to change the lives of an entire village.
