Banisteria: Plan de Flores
Plan de Flores: What’s New May ‘08 Lots of good things are happening in Plan de Flores, the site of the first AHMEN project, Woodworking School of Plan de Flores: “Banisteria”
Presently there are 12 students combined in both first and second year of school.
Something new: there are three graduates who are in a type of postgraduate work.
They spend time mentoring the younger students, taking graduate work, and then making a living at their trade.
The graduates are:
Danielle Machado 23 y.o.
Mario Gutierez 16 y.o.
Ronald Palma        14 y.o.

An exciting new addition to the program.  Alfredo and Marianna’s son, Jose, has returned from Tegu where he has been learning sign language for the past several years.  He is 14 years old and has now entered the woodworking classes.

In addition, he has brought another fellow who cannot speak or hear, Andro.  Andro is 22 years old, has been living in Tegu and also learning sign language.  His home is in the surrounding mountains of Honduras.  He would like to learn woodworking skills also.  He is living in the dorm at the woodworking school

Marianna and Alfredo have both learned sign language to communicate with their son and his friend.  Marianna would like to start a school in Sign Language at Plan de Flores for the folks in the surrounding area.  What a great addition to the area that would be.

In addition the new students are:
William from Serenia – 14 years old
Harison from Cosuna - ? Age
Three other new students

All five of the above need sponsors.  A sponsorship for the woodworking school cost $75/mo.  This covers books, tuition, food, housing, and transportation to Limon for High School, and incidentals.
Marianna says they could take up to 8 or 10 more students if they had the sponsors.
Incidentally, the professor is the brother-in-law of Pastor David Ventura of Limon.
