Connect 2008
May 12 is the early registration deadline for discounted
fee for CONNECT 2008 (formerly known as UMVIM-SEJ Rally). I have
copied the press release that went out last month in the bottom
of this email. This year we are highlighting 2 KY based teams:
one to Honduras and one to Uganda in Projects With a Purpose.
We need to support the work being led by Jim Burris from Frankfort
First in Honduras and by Linda Gardella in Uganda. I'm very excited
about my medical speaker. It previous years I was severely limited
in who I got to speak because of budgetary constraints. This
year I went for the person I wanted, not the person we could
afford. He is Dr. Henry Perrry. He developed and implimented
the first census-based community health program in Bolivia called
Andean Rural Health. Andean Rural Health is now Curamericas Global
and is in many countries around the world. Dr. Perry has served
as a Presidential Advisor on world health. He has a dual job
now of working as international project director for Curamericas
Global and as a professor at Future Generations. He has a great
sense of humor and just hearing him would be worth the trip.
We are having a great number of workshops that would benefit
any volunteer. One of the highlights of every meeting is being
able to talk one to one with other participants and with internationals.
Come join us at CONNECT for a truly mountain top experience.
