Mountain Flooding Makes Need Even Greater
Sister Eleanor called yesterday with an urgent
request. She
states there is massive rains and flooding in the mountains of
Honduras. Many homes and villages are being washed away
and evacuated. The adobe homes are simply dissolving from
the large amount of rain. Mud slides are destroying the
mountain villages. The people report loss of their homes,
their belonging, and their crops. Areas hid include:
Yorito, Yorio, La Union, Olanchito or Olancho, Tegu, El Progresso,
and many other mountain areas.
She has a special request for this particular
Christmas Container:
Food,
any type. Do not ask your team mates for a particular thing,
just ask them to contribute any type. This idea
is from Sister Eleanor
Shoes,
again any size.
Sheets
Blankets. Since
the flooding is in the mountains, she says the families will
be cold this winter.
We have already told Sandy to add an unspecified
amount of food, shoes, sheets, and blankets to the manifest.
Here
is what Sister Eleanor and your container committee has come up
with.
Pass
this on to all of your team members and your Sunday School Classes/churches. Please
do not make this decisions by yourself.
Box
up and manifest on the outside of the box what you have collected.
Send/bring
your boxes to Arley, Alabama at 9 A.M. on Nov. 8, 2008
For
those who have not paid anything for the Christmas
container, please ask the same people to b ring some money to offset both
the cost of the container and distribution of these
relief supplies when they reach La Ceiba.
We
will ask the loaders of the container to make sure these relief
supplies get on the container.
For those of you who need encouragement, either call Sister
Eleanor or e-mail Sandy. They make a convincing plea
for you to pass on to Four team mates. cruzadas.sandy@gmail.com
