Plan de Flores School for Deaf Children starts out
with a leap of faith. April ‘09
Mariana, Alfredito, and their son, Joshua, have decided to start the school for
deaf kids in their area as a “leap of faith”. They see the need as
to great to wait for funding to be guaranteed, and have
opened their doors to the 11 kids for the surrounding villages. This is a co
educational school make up of kids from the Garufina coastal villages and Indian
mountain villages.
Joshua, their oldest son who was born dear, has graduated from
the School for The Deaf in Tegu and has come home to work with
his mom and dad to open one of the few deaf schools in Honduras.
The school will be using the same campus as the sewing school
and the woodworking school in Plan de Flores. Also, the dormitory
and kitchen will be available to them.
If you are interested in this new school or know of anyone
who is, please sent have them read this and let Sandy Palencia,
Lela Aaron-Vicebte, or Tom Camp know The school has opened
with a serious lack of funding and is desperately looking
for anyone who has knowledge or interest in this program.
We will be publishing a list of ways that folks can help
this new school, either by sponsorship of money, supplies,
or prayer.
A group of ladies from Lela’s church have taken the initiate
and sponsored the first student, that just leaves 10 more.
For right now, what is needed?
Sponsorship: $75 – 100/month/student.
Schools supplies: pencisl, paper, deaf school information and
supplies, back packs, etc.
Prayers for the school, the students, and the teachers.
