Clowning
Around in Honduras
Why is the world would a clown go to Honduras? Ask Butterfly:
2009 Mary, a.k.a. Butterfly, joined a team from Christ United
Methodist Church, Jasper, Al. in 2009 as “the team
clown”. Boy was she busy. Take a look at some of
her activities.
This was the first time Butterfly had participated in
a foreign mission and wasn’t sure of her role.
As you can see, she not only fit into the total mission
work, but began some new mission areas as well.
Working with the kids at the new Deaf School at Plan de Flores.
None of these kids had ever seen a clown and were fascinated by
Butterfly.

Butterfly had her “own” Bible Study and kid’s
activity program. Her she is working with the kids at the Limon
Nurture Center.
One of the kid’s favorite things was getting close to Butterfly,
touching her, and having her give them a “smiley face”.
Sometimes even a clown has to rest: Butterfly on the front porch
of the Carolina Clinic.
One of the main projects of Butterfly’s team was the establishment
of libraries. Here Butterfly “flirts” with the director
of the library in Limon.
