"Glimpse" Article by Brenda Hyche

Guard God's Investment:  "A glimpse into tithe."
My sister, Betty Watts, passed away last week and it has been bitter-sweet.  Oh, how I miss her - but how I rejoice because I know who she was (in Christ Jesus) and what she spent her lifetime doing; which was - serving God.  She told me several years ago that she asked God one day if it would be alright for her to take her tithe money (10%) and use it for some other need at that time.  She said; "Brenda," God asked me; "why don't you use your money, instead of mine?"  Wow, - what a truth!  (She re-figured her budget and gave her money.)
I've come to see that we are "investors" of 100% of God's money because He gave it to us to begin with.  When I look at it like that; I budget better and give more.  God really is the gracious and generous one, because He says; "I love you so much that I am investing 90% of what I give you for your benefit - I want you to be provided for and blessed - so, I will only require that you give back to me - 10%."  
Ten percent of our time is required as well.  You can figure that 16.8 hours a week belong in service for God, what do we do with the other 151.2 hours?  Let's see now, taking three or four hours on Sundays and two hours on Wednesday;  the way I figure it, I'm already indebted to God for 10.8 hours which He expects me to use as my reasonable service for Him each and every week.
When we look at this attached picture of a sweet child (which I made in LaCeiba last June) - and think:  "why can't I invest some of my money into a life like this?"  One glimpse tells me, the children need to be fed, loved and nourished.   My plea this month is for feeding the children.  Can we sacrifice just one day lunch money a week to help supply this need?
Like most of us - I live in budget.  Sometimes that budget has to be adjusted when I start mis-directing God's investment in me.  
Just wanted to give us something to think about.
