All of the members of your staff are also invited to attend the Conference. It is a great way to meet each other and to exchange ideas and to help each other in our tasks. Ciriboya and Palacios are so isolated from the rest of Honduras that it makes perfect sense to become strong allies in medical care.
As far as a topic for the Conference, we all speak on what ever we want. There is no central theme of the Conference other than sharing our skills and knowledge to the benefit of those we serve. . Choose something of interest to you as a care provider, that we all might benefit from hearing. We can all learn from your experiences. Most people put there presentation on a CD, DVD or USB card memory card. We try to make sure everyone gets a copy of all the talks when they leave.
I personally like to hear about disease I don't see in the U.S. I am always attracted to an interesting skin diseases. Talks that I give tend to be about how I do things in the U.S. and how I would do it were I in Honduras. I am still waiting for a presentation on local folk and traditional medicine/ herbalism. Jesus, the Garifuna lady who always come with us tells me about some of the local medicinal plants and she always interests me.
There are no rules about what you can speak about, just whatever you think would be of value to the group. The only rule seems to be that it should be less than 20 minutes in length. Additionally, we try to avoid politically sensitive topics.
