September 27, 2011 Dear CHHF Team Leaders –
Past and Present, Hopefully, your experiences at the Carolina Clinics in Limón and Icoteas are etched in your fondest memories. Teams tell us that the week at our clinic in Honduras provides incomparable rewards and experiences.
Perhaps you recall the baby delivered by your team, the 94 year old woman at Icoteas who walks to the clinic every time a team is there, the young child whose life was saved with IV's and proper medications, the teen girl with a broken front tooth for whom cosmetic dentistry changed her future.
The stories of the healing hands of CHHF teams in Honduras are endless. CHHF writes to you today as the Foundation needs your help in continuing this medical mission begun in 1996.
The clinic facility in Limón is in desperate need of repair; three projects are of priority in order to maintain the clinic. First, the electrical system must be completely rewired. Secondly, the roof must be repaired and in doing so we must remove the roof and replace timbers compromised by termites. These maintenance projects have been estimated to cost up to $100,000.
Due to the economic situation, for the last few years donations to CHHF have barely enabled the Foundation to meet its yearly budget needs. Thus, there are no funds for these necessary improvements to the clinic.
If teams are to continue going to the Carolina Clinic in Limón, repairs are necessary. Today we are asking that you assist us by providing the names and contact information (email and postal mailing addresses) for all current and past volunteers at the clinic. Our database is far from complete, and we feel volunteers who have been to the clinic are the people who truly understand the good done at our clinic.
Perhaps these are the people who can assist this Foundation in finding the funds needed to continue to serve the people of the Limón area. As you know, the people of Limón and the surrounding area depend on the Carolina Clinic for their medical care.
Without the CHHF clinic, most would be unable to afford even the most basic of medical care. For 15 years, this Foundation has been committed to helping the people of this remote and underserved area. Our clinic now is in jeopardy.
Please assist us in our fund-raising task by providing the contact information so badly needed. Please send this information to Chris Zawacki at CZawacki@aol.com or P.O. Box 528 Barnwell, SC 29812. Because I will be on vacation the first week of October, please also copy this information to via email to Ken Hook at hookkp@gmail.com or 3209 Oak Branch Lane, Toano, VA 23168 CHHF is confident that funds will be found so that our clinic may be repaired and may continue to serve the people.
However, we need your help in order to reach our goal. Please send us this contact information by October 3 so we can send our Capital Campaign letter no later than mid-October. Sincerely, Chris Zawacki Team Coordinator
