Calera Container Loading May 2012
We had a wonderful loading at Calera High School yesterday. The Dole container arrived ahead of schedule and we had lots of help. The student team did most of the lifting and toting. Several parents were on hand as well. One brought an all terrain fork lift that had an expandable reach. It really helped make the loading go smoothly.
The Calera students are really wonderful and are to be commended for their clothes/shoes/household goods drive to fill the container with much needed supplies for the people of the Cloud Forest. It represented an awful lot of work and effort. There are several sets of box springs and mattresses, many bags of clothing and shoes. In addition the students packed the prostheses and tools for assembling the
BUVs. One of the BUVs is in kit form and one is fully assembled.
They have added two special attachments – one is a disk/plow attachment and another is the well drilling attachment.
I have asked that the kids use the well drilling attachment to put in two wells at Casa Ceilo’s new facility. It will really make for some great PR video for the High School.
The really exciting part of the day was loading the fully assembled BUV. It was a tight fit. With the well drilling attachment, it had only a couple of inches clearance, but with patience, deflating the tires, and a lot of maneuvering, it got in.
We are very excited about this project. We’ll see you soon.
