Latest Group Returns from Honduras
By Ken Key
Good Morning All,
Tommy Zanier and myself have just returned from Honduras. Our mission was to work on the warehouse in La Ceiba and maintenance check on the girl's dorm.
We were able to get about 75% of the warehouse finished. The trip in April of next year should finish it if the funds come in.
Inspection of the girls dorm as follows:
Problem --- 4 chickens, 2 rabbits, and one dog and many, many flies.in the kitchen area.
Our recommendation is to get funds for 3 screen doors.
We need some team member to teach tem how to clean the kitchen, keep the dining room and bed rooms clean.
Good General Housekeeping. What if two people (female) would spend a week or so living with the girls and teaching them basic healthy habits?.
Also, the septic tank was running over and the back yard was full of waste water. We (Mission Unlimited) needs approx. $600 to send down for field line pipe and to purchase and install the screen doors.
We now have 17 girls and they are putting a strain on the facilities.
The girls are doing fine and will be out of school Nov 18 - Feb. 18.
Ken Key.

School Uniform Drive, How You Can Help

by Linda Tripp

We are in the process of establishing a fund to provide school
uniforms and supplies for the children in Yorito. Children are not allowed to attend school unless they have a uniform. We are working through Pastor Gonzales and Joey, a Peace Corps volunteer in Yorito. This effort can be accomplished locally rather than having to be done in LaCeiba. Sandy has said this would be great if we can get it going.
Uniform costs are: shirts, $4.70; pants, $5.30; skirts $3.00, and shoes
$8.80. The director of the larger elementary school in Yorito says the
supplies are $35-45 for a school year. There are two elementary schools, two kindergartens, and one high school in the town.
The school year starts in February. This year it is Feb. 14th, 2005.
So, for about $60 a year, one can sponsor a child for school. ($75 would provide two sets of uniforms. I don't have to remind any of you of the importance of education.
May we count on you to sponsor? Pastor Gonzales has sent me a list
Of names; there are 77 elementary-aged children in Yorito who are presently not in school. Please respond to me via email or phone.
Thank you; may God continue to bless you all.
