Family Unity – A Soup Kitchen for Orphans and Widows in Limon, Honduras
AHMEN, in conjunction with Cruzado de Evangelico Church in Limon, Honduras has started a soup kitchen for the orphans of that area. There are presently 40 kids with no parents and 40 kids with only a mother. In addition, there are 25 older adults, mostly ladies, with no financial support system. When asked who feeds the kids now, Corina Goff said: “They wander from house to house in the village with their little plate and cup asking for food.”
Family Unity is presently feeding them a high energy, high protein meal two times a week. With each feeding they are given a vitamin appropriate for their age. The church delivers the meal and vitamin to the homes of the widows who are too feeble to walk to the church.
The food us cooked over an open fire by Christina, one of the members of the Cruzado church. She is paid $15/week to head-up the program. Family Unity has funding for 5 mos.
If you would like to be part of this project, contact Danny or Brenda Arnold, Jenny, Anna, or Rainey.
Any size donation is appreciated. We estimate $10/mo./kid will keep the program going.

Short Term Goal: 2 feedings and 2 vitamins/kid/week
Long Term Goal: Increase the number of feedings/week
